At the end of the Summer term the Art Department welcomed parents, friends and students to the NHEHS Summer Exhibition.
The abundance of ideas, skill and creativity on show was amazing. Our GCSE students began their course with a trip to the National Portrait Gallery, a lecture on ‘The Abstract Portrait’ and sketching in the Africa Galleries at the British Museum.
The exhibitions of Ai Wei-Wei and Joseph Cornell at the Royal Academy, as well a sketching trip to the Hunterian Museum at the Royal College of Surgeons, inspired many of our AS students to work in both two and three dimensions. Learning to etch at the Thames Barrier Print Studios prompted Year 13 students to make work of a more intimate size.
