Information For External Applicants for September 2020

Each year, we welcome new students into the Sixth Form to join the girls moving up from the Senior School.  Our new sixth formers are invited along to special orientation days in July to meet everyone so,  that when you start in September you’ll feel at home.

We select girls based on assessment and interview. Applicants will sit 30 minute papers in each of their chosen A-level subjects (apart from Art, which is assessed on portfolio).  This is followed by interviews with the Heads of Department in your intended A Level subjects and with the Head of Sixth Form.

We will also ask for a confidential reference from your current Head Teacher and predictions of your GCSE grades.  We cannot process your application fully, or make the offer of a place, until this reference and details of predicted grades have been received.

Offers of places are conditional upon GCSE grades.  As a general guide we expect girls to have obtained 9s or 8s in their chosen A level subjects, with 7s or above in the majority of their other GCSEs.

Applicants wishing to be considered for an Academic Scholarship should indicate this on the application form and will sit an additional scholarship paper on assessment day.

Scholarships are also available in Art, Drama, Music and Sport.  If you are interested in applying for any of these, please tick the relevant box on the application form. You should also complete and return the appropriate scholarship application form, available on the Scholarships / Bursaries section of our website.

Some means tested bursaries may also be available for sixth form applicants.  If you wish to apply for a bursary you should indicate this on your application form and we will send you details of the online application process.
