"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Calling All Budding Film Makers to the NHEHS Film Festival!

NHEHS Film Festival BannerIn February 2020, we are looking forward to hosting our film festival which will include a variety of workshops, activities and talks. There are also three film festival competitions for the girls to enter.

First is the flagship GDST-wide short-film making competition with the theme of ‘TIME’. This is open to girls in Years 7-13 across the GDST and films will be judged in two categories: Year 7-9 and Year 10-13. To enter, girls need to create a 7-minute film which addresses the theme. The best films will be shortlisted and finalists will be invited to an evening at the Everyman Cinema in Hampstead in February where all the finalists’ films will be shown on the big screen. There will be prize giving as well as film judging with special guests from the film industry.  Now is the chance for girls to get their film quite literally onto the big screen!

The second competition is for any budding animators. From hand drawn to computer animation to stop motion, anything is acceptable as long as it fits under the umbrella of animation. The short animation should be made against the backing music of the song Harveys by the band ‘Hers’. All the girls have to do is create an animation of their choice of at least 20 seconds, using that track as the background.

The third and final competition is all about musical composition. For this, girls should compose some backing music to the classic cartoon clip which introduces Mickey Mouse in Walt Disney’s ‘Mickey Mouse Steamboat Willie’. All the girls need to do is compose some music to fit between the start and end time. All levels of musical skill are welcome!

All three competitions are open to students from Years 7-13 and the deadline for entries for all three is the 31st January 2020 by 16.00.
