"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Junior School Captains & Councillors Trip to Parliament

By Kaira D (6B) and Larsa U (6W)

On the 8th November, the Year Six School Councillors and House Captains went on a trip to the Houses of Parliament, in Westminster. They enjoyed a lovely tour of the Sovereign’s Entrance, the Monarch’s Dressing Room, the House of Lords and many more interesting things. As well as this, they also enjoyed a workshop about campaigning and democracy in Parliament.

Of the many highlights, we especially enjoyed:

  • The throne, on which no one has sat on since Queen Elizabeth II died
  • The royal changing room in which the monarch changes on every state opening day in May.
  • The debate about whether we should use mouse traps!
  • The view of Big Ben and the London Eye
  • The statue of Charles Barry – the designer of the building
  • The giant statue of the late Queen Victoria
  • The real gold display in The Houses of Lords

This trip was a great opportunity and experience, as it taught those who participated a lot about the history of Parliament, leadership, democracy, as well as a chance to bond with ‘fellow colleagues.’
