"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Last Day for Year 13 at NHEHS

By Miss Aherne, Head of Sixth Form

The Year 13 had a fun-filled final day in school before starting their study leave. They came into school early and transformed the atrium with a sea of colourful balloons and displays for the whole school to enjoy having breakfast together.

This was followed by their final assembly where we had the premier of their fantastic leavers’ video before Mr Shoults shared some anecdotes about their time at school. Final lessons were interrupted by the traditional conga through the staff room at break and the courtyard was adorned with a bouncy slide which they even managed to get some staff to slide down!

The Leavers’ Concert took place in the afternoon where there was an eclectic mix of acts put on by both staff and students. An ABBA tribute act and some rapping by Miss Nicholas and Mrs Hepenstall were particular highlights. There were also reflective moments as we shared advice for the future and shared our fondest memories of them as a year group. The day ended with a celebratory tea.

As I write this, the Y13s are now in the midst of their A Level exams and we are incredibly proud of how they have navigated their time in Sixth Form. They richly deserve success, and we are already looking forward to their Leavers’ Ceremony next month where an alumnae, Bea Appleby, will be addressing them.
