"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Launch of Just One Tree Day GDST Initiative

As part of a PSHCEE GDST wide initiative led by PSHE Trust Consultant Teachers Mrs Ferguson and Miss Munro-Hall,  Notting Hill & Ealing High School are excited to announce our involvement with the Just One Tree Foundation. This foundation, founded by Northwood College alumna Amanda Bronckhorst,  is a Non-Profit Organisation that is working towards removing CO2 from the atmosphere through global reforestation projects. For each £1 raised, a tree is planted.

Our Junior Eco Councillors were excited to launch ‘Just One Tree Day’ at assembly as part of the GDST wide initiative while Just One Tree Day will feature in Senior School assembly next week and during form time.

Students at GDST schools across the country will be fundraising for the charity by bringing in £1 on May 25th and dressing in clothes that reflect a ‘Go Green’ theme – green coloured or green (from a charity shop/hand-me-down etc).

This week we are also holding ‘Cultural Celebration Week’ across the whole school, as diversity and environmental sustainability representatives unite to promote awareness and to support this common cause.

In Junior School, Mrs Cassar’s Eco Council and Eco Warriors came up with their own idea of putting together an Eco Art Exhibition for parents. As well as Eco Art, the exhibition will also include artwork created from a cultural diversity project where girls brought their own materials into school to create art reflecting their own culture. The exhibition takes place on May 25th and Junior parents will be invited into school to view the exhibition and donate £1 towards the Just One Tree initiative. The Eco Warriors and Diversity Council will have stalls showing what they have learned about Diversity, environmental sustainability and Just One Tree Day. Our Juniors chose to hold the exhibition ahead of World Environment Day on June 5th.

Both Senior and Junior Schools will be taking part in the Walk to School Week and GDST Walk, Bike, Bus, Carbon Buster Challenge in the week of May 16th.

We hope you can join and support us for Just One Tree Day at NHEHS!
