"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Michelin Starred Chef Andy Needham NHEHS Cookalong

On February 9th we held our second Live Creative Workshop for our NHEHS community of students, staff, parents and friends. A huge thanks to Michelin starred chef Andy Needham for running our Live Cookalong on Google Meet with nearly 100 aspiring chefs creating their own chicken/aubergine parmigiana!

Judging by the comments from families taking part, there were some very tasty dinners enjoyed that evening!

“Thank you! It was so much fun, my daughter and I really enjoyed it.”

“I just wanted to let you know the workshop was great! Thank you very much for organising it.”

“Thanks for organising the cooking session yesterday, it was great fun! Unfortunately, we did not take pictures of the dish, it was so good that we ate it straight away and forgot!”

“We just wanted to drop you a quick note to say thank you for organising the cooking workshop last night. We really enjoyed cooking along with Andy and everyone else and trying something different for a change. It was a wonderful event to organise for families during this lockdown!”

If you’d like to experience Andy’s food in the comfort of your own home, his restaurant L’Amorosa is still open for pre-ordered food collections during the lockdown. Find out more here: lamorosa.co.uk

For our final Live Workshop we explored the world of photography with Ms Waller on February 24th.

The popular session featured how to take a portrait photograph. We also looked at how to take a good picture of a really important object ranging from cuddly toys to ornaments. Ms Waller showed us how to experiment with light and shade in our photography, even simply by using things found around the home. One parent said, “My daughter and I had great fun trying out our homemade photography equipment using different coloured card and the foil – what a difference it made! We’ll put your tips into practice next time we get everyone together for a family photo!”

A big thank you to Ms Waller and her daughter for sharing her photography tips with us.
