"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

NHEHS Carol Service Goes Virtual For 2020

Our Senior Christmas Carol Service premiered on YouTube on Monday evening, featuring our four choirs – Senior Choir, Chamber Choir, Year 13 Choir and Lower School Chamber Choir.

Pre-recorded the previous week at school, accompanied by our Year 10 Ensemble, Miss Dunne (piano) and Mrs Sheard (harp), we were also able to include a welcome and prayers from Reverend Justin Dodd and the traditional organ accompaniment from Mr John Hudson played at St. Barnabas Church, where we usually hold our service.

Opening with ‘Once in Royal David’s City,’ lessons were read by girls from Years 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12, interspersed with a lively ‘Ding Dong Merrily on High’ (Senior Choir), a beautiful ‘Personent Hodie’ by Chamber Choir, ‘In the Bleak Midwinter’ (Sixth Form Ensemble accompanied by Grace and Jaya), ‘This Little Babe’ from the Year 13 choir.

Further lessons were read by our Hear Girl, our Head of Sixth Form and Mr Shoults, with lovely renditions of “Silent Night” (Lower School Chamber Choir) and a Year 11 duet – ‘Farewell Song of the Migrating Birds.’ ‘Oh, Come All Ye Faithful’ was followed by prayers and a blessing by Reverend Dodd, before the festive service ended with a very uplifting ‘Hark! The Herald Angels.’

The recording is still available to enjoy via the link sent out on School Comms on 14th December.

Thank you to Mr Cheney, Mrs Sheard, Miss Le Brun and Miss Dunne for making it all happen.
