"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

NHEHS Weekly Sports Update February 7th – 14th 2020

Another great week for NHEHS sport!

GDST Select Teams

A huge well done to Hannah L who represented the GDST Select Netball last weekend, Natasha J who represented the GDST Select Hockey, and our very own Miss Dunkley who coached the GDST select netball team!

The netball team beat Loughborough Lightning U17 and U19 and the Hockey beat Repton first XI and Leicester Hockey Club on their touring weekend to Loughborough.

A fantastic achievement for our girls and Miss Dunkley, who all did the NHEHS name proud!

Athletics

On February 10th, the U12 (Year 7) athletics team took part in the Regional Round for the London Youth Games representing the Borough of Ealing and finished in a brilliant second place.

They came up against the best schools selected from eight other boroughs (Camden, H&F, Haringey, Harrow, K&C, Tower Hamlets and Westminster), and were fantastic on the day. The organiser said St George’s and St Thomas More had previously dominated at this level so they were impressed how well our girls fared! The NHEHS Ealing team will now be only one of eight schools from the whole of London competing in the finals on Tuesday 24 March! Well done to the team – Hannah, Natasha, Emma S, Julia, Zoe J, Kiki, Careena and Helena.

The Year 8 team also finished an impressive 4th place, with many individuals finishing in first, second or third places in their races.

Team Ealing were voted by other boroughs to also receive the ‘Sportsmanship Trophy’, with comments written such as “superb team spirit…such friendly pupils and great sportsmanship shown.”

Hockey

Our U15A hockey team won against The Harrodian School and West London Free School 2-0 and 3-0 respectively at a triangular tournament on February 13th.

Netball

Various NHEHS teams played at home to St. Benedict’s on February 10th, with the U12A team winning 29-8 (MVP Natasha), the U12B 30-1 (MVP Jasmine), U12C 9-2 (MVP Zoe J).

Our U15 teams were not to be outdone, with the A team winning  26-11 (MVP Jasmine S) and the Bs 28-1 (POM Zara playing up from the U14 team). The U14A team took the win (26-10 MVP Beatrice) and the B team also by 28-1 (MVP Katherine).  Our U13A-E teams did not fare so well the following day at LEH, losing all 5 games, while our U18A and B teams beat St. Benedict’s 19-15 and 23-5 in a triangular tournament on February 12th.

Swimming

NHEHS took part in a triangular swimming tournament on February 12th with Godolphin & Latymer and St. Paul’s Girls Schools and came away winners in both the U12A and U13A age groups

Water Polo

Our U18 team took part in the ESSA Water Polo National Championships qualifiers. NHEHS got off to a flying start with a 4-1 win against Brighton College, then narrowly lost 4-5 in a tight match vs Alleyn’s before just missing out v. Old Palace and Trinity School, Croydon (both 2-3 defeats). This placed NHEHS 3rd in the group.
