On Friday 17th November, members of various NHEHS choirs headed to The Guildhall in central London to perform alongside singer and Notting Hill & Ealing alumna, Shaima Mirza, at the ‘Football for Peace Ball’
The day before the performance, Shaima came into school to meet the girls and to rehearse their performance of Bob Marley’s ‘One Love’. Music and choreography were soon mastered and excited anticipation was mixed with a little anxiety as some of the girls were told that as well as singing it would be their role to move among the audience and get the guests on their feet and dancing.
Although they were involved in performing just the one song the girls were excellent and their exuberance and natural NHEHS charm soon had the audience on their feet. In their turn, the girls were wowed, not only by the Guildhall, but by the chance to spot celebrity guests from the world of football and the sheer glitz and glamour that goes with a major charity ball.
Thank you Shaima for such a memorable experience.
