Top Five for NHEHS Junior & Intermediate Teams in Middlesex Track & Field Cup !
The wind and rain didn’t stop our athletes at the English Schools Athletics Track & Field Cup on May 9th at Lee Valley!
The Middlesex round of this competition is split over two days, with half the schools taking part on the Thursday and the other on the Friday.
Our Junior Girls (Years 7 and 8) placed second on the day and 5th overall in Middlesex out of 17 schools. The Intermediate girls (Years 9 and 10) were 4th on the day and 4th in the county out of 16 schools! Fingers crossed our high scores can get us into Regionals – we will find out at the end of this week!
There were some outstanding individual performances which included:
Junior Team: Sephera in Hurdles (13.40 seconds) and Discus (20m), Michelle in 100m (13.78 seconds) and Long Jump (4.20m), Eadi in the 1500 (5:45 mins) and Nicola in the 1500m (5:50 mins) and Rosie in the 800m (2.:45 mins). Also well done to Ella who jumped 1.23m in the high jump in her third ever time of doing it!
Intermediate team: Jasmine 1500m (4:52 mins), Isabella in the 100m (13.14 seconds), Natasha in the 300m (46 seconds), Grace in the Javelin (25m), Amy in the High Jump (1.38m). Also a special mention to Lauren who stepped in when Sophie was ill and ran the 800m in 2:44 minutes!
Well done to everyone!
Cricket
Our U12A team travelled to Godolphin & Latymer for an away friendly match but lost.
Rounders
Sadly, our four U12 rounders teams matches home to St Paul’s Girls School on May 9th were cancelled due to the weather.
Tennis
Our U14 & U15 tennis fixtures also home to St Paul’s also fell victim to the weather on the same day. Our U13 team lost 28-80 away at Godolphin & Latymer on May 7th, while NHEHS were given a w/o Villers High School in the Area Cup as they could not field a team.
