"We believe that being part of a community matters, it involves reaching out to volunteer, raising funds for causes we care about, and sharing our spaces to build meaningful relationships. These collaborations are mutually enriching and enable our students to create connections beyond the school gates."

Students Fund February Meals for Monday Nights for Ealing Soup Kitchen

Year 7s Ellie, Maya and Roxy teamed up with eight friends from Fielding Primary School to pick up litter in Lammas, Walpole parks and the surrounding areas as a way to raise money for the Ealing Soup Kitchen.

Ellie is a scout and wanted to do something towards getting a badge, while her brother Tom was looking at using it for his school values baccalaureate, so they came up with this idea together as their Mum specialises in housing law and homelessness. Then they invited their friends along for the challenge (in their school bubbles)! They all spent around two hours each filling sacks full of litter from the parks. Initially, the group were looking to raise enough money to pay for all the meals for one night and instead managed to cover the Monday night meals for February, raising over £700. The friends were amazed and very happy that people supported their efforts. All the children were surprised at how many people needed the regular support of hot meals locally.

Having made such a difference to the Ealing Soup Kitchen from doing something so simple, Ellie is feeling inspired for her role as charity rep in her class and was very happy to see this post by Ealing Soup Kitchen on their Facebook page which thanked them for their thoughtfulness.

Well done Ellie, Maya and Roxy!
